Translation of Training Programs for Adult Education
Overview
Translation of two large-scale training programs for Eastern Shores School Board, developed for adult learners and delivered in collaboration with the Comité sectoriel de main-d’œuvre des pêches maritimes.
The project was carried out over two consecutive years and involved translating and formatting a wide range of educational materials, including workbooks, presentations and teaching resources.
All deliverables were provided as ready-to-use PDFs created in Adobe.
The challenge
This project involved translating extensive training materials designed for adult learners in a professional context.
The first program focused on foundational skills for seasonal workers in the fisheries sector, including:
- numeracy and measurement
- digital literacy
- reading and writing skills
- workplace communication and collaboration
- health, environment and ergonomics
The second program addressed more advanced topics, including:
- mathematical operations and revision
- advanced digital literacy
- workplace communication and conflict resolution
- health and safety (including WHMIS and hazard identification)
- broader contextual topics such as demographics, economics and tourism
Across both programs, the scope included:
- multiple employee workbooks
- PowerPoint presentations
- teaching materials and supporting documents
In total, the project represented over 200 hours of work and more than 700 pages of content.
The key challenges were:
- using clear, accessible language suited to adult learners
- maintaining cohesion across a large number of documents
- ensuring consistency in terminology and repeated concepts
- managing a significant volume of work within defined timelines
- delivering fully formatted, ready-to-use materials
My approach
I approached this project with a focus on clarity, consistency and structure.

The translation prioritized plain, accessible language, ensuring that concepts were easy to understand without oversimplifying the material. - Maintaining cohesion across documents

A structured workflow allowed for efficient handling of multiple documents and formats while maintaining quality and consistency. - Delivering ready-to-use materials
All content was formatted directly in Adobe and delivered as final PDFs, ready for immediate use by instructors and learners.
The result
The final English versions deliver clear, structured and accessible training materials adapted to the needs of adult learners.
By combining translation and formatting, the project streamlined the production process and ensured that materials could be used immediately without additional preparation.
The work also demonstrates the ability to manage complex, multi-document projects while maintaining clarity, consistency and pedagogical coherence.
